Each year the Genoa U.S. Indian School Foundation Wolfe Family Scholarship is awarded to a descendant of a Genoa U.S. Indian School student. This $2,000 college scholarship is offered thanks to the generosity of the Wolfe family. This scholarship helps descendants of former students further their secondary education, a cause the Foundation is proud to facilitate. Below, Brad Wolfe explains why the family decided to offer this annual scholarship:

“Some former students returned to the Genoa school sharing memories of the experiences they had at the boarding school, and the lifelong friendships they developed. One such student is Dale Wolfe, a member of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians. As a young boy at Genoa, Dale began to realize the value of education. He continued his pursuit of education to eventually become a Research Engineer with Boeing at NASA’s Johnson Space Center having worked on all space programs from Apollo to the space shuttle. He proudly shared his Native heritage with his children and others. It was Dale’s achievements and his fondness for Genoa that led his family to create the Genoa Indian School Wolfe Family Scholarship in his memory. The scholarship is awarded annually to a descendant of a former Genoa Indian School student.”
